Summer is winding down, and school is starting. Soon the Las Vegas 100 degree heat will be a thing of the past, and it will be Christmas all too soon. The one thing I notice about summer being over is there are kids everywhere, in parks and fields, playing that great American game we have all come to know and love, Football. This year I have decided to shoot some images of these young men (and sometimes women). Rather than use the tired old standby pose of the poor kid kneeling by his helmet and holding a football, I'm going to attempt to give the players and their families something more.
The Henderson Cowboys were nice enough to allow me into their practice last Saturday morning. These are some of the images I captured this day. These kids work hard, and put out a giant effort for this team. It's obvious to me that these boys love this game. I know when I was their age, I didn't want to get up at the crack of dawn, to run drills and work my tail off. Everyone of the kids on this team has heart. Practice started at 6:30 am, as the sun was peaking over the mountain to the East, as evidenced by this long shadow.
Watching these young men work so hard for a sport they loved, inspired me.
The sun was climbing fast, and shooting into the sun can be tricky. Using a body for a shield from the sun can be advantageous when time is short. As the photographer it's important to remember that sometimes, you need to be the one moving, not the subject. As these young men listen intently to instructions from their coach, I seized the moment to move into place and capture this image.
It seems that America's love of the sport continues to grow. I just hope that pairing my passion for photography with their passion for football will be a winning combination.
Till next time. -Tyler
Last week I was sent to North Dakota for a small job. I felt it would only be prudent for me to bring along my camera. Here are some of the images I was able to shoot.
I loved this old fence, covered in tall grass bending with the wind.
I found this old barn north of Bismark. I was lucky enough to find it before the sun completely disappeared. The gentleman who owns the property was gracious enough to let me come in close and shoot away.
Below is another look at the same barn, as I saw it when I first drove up.
This cemetery was just off the highway, and seemed like a great place to shoot a random photo. The sun takes a while to set without the mountains blocking it so I was blessed with this unique sky.
Maybe one of my favorite shots. It almost looks painted with color, but this is just sunset in North Dakota, as seen through my lens.
I had such a fun trip, but was glad to head back home to my family. I hope you enjoyed looking at the photos from my trip, as much as I enjoyed shooting them. Until next time.....
In March 2013, I ended up at a bar here in Las Vegas where people gladly indulged me, by letting me shoot some amazing photos. This is the result. I have posted some of the cutting room photos (Ones I would not use normally for a head shot) because I think they are funny and amazing in their own right. Enjoy!
We started off a bit crazy with each one but always ended on a high note.
And then ... there is was ... Perfection!
Such an amazing look she gave me. I am just happy I was able to capture it.
Next is Kyra, talk about a whirlwind of happiness and positive energy. This was her birthday and I wasn't about to let her leave without some amazing images. I laughed so hard I almost missed the shots. So much fun and so beautiful.
First the squinty face, then laughing-out-loud hysterical.
And then there is was, Perfection!
I love this image. Her smile. Her eyes. Such a natural beauty.
Next we have one of the cocktail waitresses, Lindsay, joining in the fun.
Everyone has to be goofy first, but she has some of the most beautiful goofy photos.
Awwwww, a kissy picture
Then this slight head tilt, Nailed it!
Simply amazing how effortless she made it seem. LIKE A BOSS....
Last but not least, one of the most amazing couples I have met in a long time. Such great energy.
You can just tell how much he loves her.
Another funny photo from such a cute couple! He was such a ham.
Then he wanted a photo of his wife alone, and as if she had done it before, this was her first shot. BAM
I would like to thank BJ's for allowing me to set up, shoot some amazing photos, and meet some awesome people.
Thank you for looking at my latest images. Until next time...
Amazing day out in Nelson's Landing with Jim and Liz. Wedding day in only 4 months. With these two, it's guaranteed to be a blast.
Loved this old car. It was a great place to stop for one minute and grab a "Kissy" picture. Jim had warmed up to the idea of photos, about 10 minutes before we shot this, so I think it works.
Thank you both. I wish you all the best!
So it's spring time. School is out for a week because of spring break, and the flowers are blooming. Green beer is flowing by the ounce, and my camera and I will be shooting tons of photos. Now all I need is a pot o gold. hmmmmm.. Well I think I have it. This week I will be unveiling my new photography page. Look for it at the end of the week. I promise you will be stunned, a bit shocked, but mostly surprised. I hope to talk to everyone soon. Happy shooting.
